Guys, I was tempted to ask for something free today. There was an item that was priced £.00 and I so wanted to go up and tell them that they should give it to me for free, but was worried to look like an idiot! Does anyone know what the law about this sort of thing is, and should I go back and ask for it? I saw a similar item to it priced £45! Cheers0

I got some free washable nappies from tommee tippee just by phoning them and asking them which retailers stock them. As it turned out, they are stopping making them, the girl said they had some spare ones she would send out. They sent me 18 larger nappies and 12 smaller ones, would have cost £150 for mothercares equivelent product.0

Of course, their "samples" are actually the little bottles that retail for £1.75 each!

when I went to Morocco, we were told to look carefully at the lids of Coke bottles. Apparantly, the locals who sell them open them up, took out a quater of a bottle and topped up with tap water - not nice in Morocco.
If you see what I mean, they made an extra bottle out of every 4, saving them money.
this is an old trick; a lot of nightclubs do the same thing with Gin because of its strong smell. I prefer to buy bottles of beer for the same reason.Keep trying.........................what else is there to do?

Unfortunately you can't legally do this - the shop is not obliged to sell you the item at the price that is displayed. Basically by putting a price on things they are making you an offer, and by paying for the item, you are accepting that offer. It's a shame because there have been tons of times when I've wished that was possible!0 -

I wrote to a company making musical potties about my son (he had a medical condition making toileting difficult) and I asked them for details about price etc. Instead they sent me a potty free of charge.
Another time I wrote to a skin care company that used to always advertise in the press where you could get a whole lot of items for about 9.99 - don't remember the name. I mentioned a skin condition in the family and asked if they could send me a list of their ingredients for one of their products. I was very surprised to receive a letter saying that they had passed my letter over to their specialist who was making up a cream especially for me.This was sent free of charge.
The last thing I do remember getting wasn't through a letter, but a trip to the advice centre where they were giving away packs of energy saving bulbs.
When I was involved with charities, I used to write to trusts and companies for money and was usually successful, sometimes they gave items instead. Once it was a whole lot of office stuff (we didn't have an office).
Reading all the posts has inspired me to write some more letters.0 -
I know this is an old thread, but thought I would post on here anyway. If you found out that your fifteen year old son was asking for free things on a local forum, including sugar and cupcake liners, in order to bake cupcakes, would you find it embarrassing? I know I would. Why not ask your parents for such things, knock on a neighbours door, or use your pocket money to buy them? Total cost would be under £2.0

I would ask him why he was doing it, perhaps he doesn't want to ask as he is planning a surprise?0
