Claim on insurance through booking.com

Hi, I booked accommodation through booking.com in France a couple of months ago, my partner broke his leg the day before travel in June so we had to cancel. We got insurance through booking.com, they will cover ferries so not problem with those, however I need a cancellation notice from the France accommodation and booking.com say they have contacted the owner of the accommodation, who agrees we didn’t stay but is not giving us one she wants everything to go through booking .com all I need is a cancellation notice to claim on insurance is there anything I can do.

I realise I may have to pay a fee but all I want is a notice from her to say how much we paid and we didn’t stay.

I feel quite let down by the owner we want to go next year and asked to change date but she wouldn’t even do that.

Thanks

Surely if booking.com are contacting her then everything is going through them?

Does booking.com own system not show you cancelled it?

  • booking.com wouldn’t let me cancel as it was day before we left and I was too late to cancel officially. But the owner is happy I didn’t stay and wants to help me as insurance will pay out but getting this notice is nightmare as trying to phone booking.com is AI assistance and I get email and cannot reply to them customer service is none existent

Should you not be claiming unable to travel with a letter from NHS / GP confirming ?
