RAC Failure to Respond or Attend Breakdown

Clearly if there's a sudden and catastrophic breakdown that immobilises a car immediately then any recommendation of movement is superfluous!
But that doesn't answer the question of where you sourced the advice to stay in the car with 'no further information given'?
The RAC website also advises
“If you are broken down on a live lane, keep your hazard warning lights on, seatbelts fastened, and stay in your car. Call 999 and do not exit the car.”
