fix not a fix
When is an energy fix not a fix? When you choose Eon Next Smart Saver Fixed 24m V1
I chose this tariff thinking it was fixed (would I be forgiven for thinking Fixed means fixed?)
Beware MSErs. Also says Fixed term ends 28/8/2028
When talking to Eon rep who was great btw it means you're fixed (stuck) o a tracker for 24m

Could you explain what you mean? Did the unit price change or did your monthly direct debit increase?

I go onto this tariff 0n 28/8/2026 so yes DD will increase each time the price cap changes unit price will change so DD will increase to cover extra amount even if usage remain the same

Fixed term ENDS.
I presume it also does NOT say that unit rates and standing charges are fixed for the term.

Unit rates and standing charges are fixed for the term

So it is indeed a fixed tariff.

I presume it also does NOT say that unit rates and standing charges are fixed for the term.
On the contrary, it says exactly that:
Two cheaper off-peak periods per day, plus a super off-peak and a peak period.
Fixed prices for each period for 24 months.
OP what makes you think it's going to change next week when the price cap changes?

Are you sure you and the "great CS rep" were actually talking the same tariffs
Next smart saver is a different beast - to their tracker - its their sort of Cosy TOU fixed
And it has as the third box says - no exit fees.
"With Next Smart Saver, you get price certainty, plus the reassurance of no exit fees if your circumstances change."
"When talking to Eon rep who was great btw it means you're fixed (stuck) o a tracker for 24m"
EOn Next do do a tracker - Next Pledge - was £25 per fuel below Ofgem Cap - but only if you used the full TDCV.
And does have a £25 per fuel exit fee.
So what tariff did you think you were going on - and did you do the change yourself, via a club or site, or by phoing their CS reps.
As presuming the rep was reading from your account - I'd be worried your not where you expected to be.

When is an energy fix not a fix?
When the Government chooses to interfere. I am on a fixed one-year night/day tariff which expires in December. But the price per unit was reduced by 3.34p per kWh (before VAT) for both night and day tariffs on 1st April. Now there is going to be another reduction on 1st October when the 5% VAT charge is withdrawn. It's terrible, isn't it?

It worries me too.I'm usually on the ball with these things. What concerns me is the confusion marketing approach taken by utility and other companies now

It's sounds to me that you just got a customer service person who misunderstood which tariff you were on and probably thought you were on the Tracker tariff rather than the fix.
