My OVO Fixed tariff doesn’t end till 25th November

Hi, my existing fixed tariff with OVO doesn’t finish until 25th November. I can only change fee free from 53 days before it ends, which is the 3rd October.

Since the new price cap starts on 1st Oct is there any way I can get a new fixed contract without paying the exit fee which I will miss by 3 days!!

You are working on the misapprehension that fixed rates are set and are solely based on the movement of a price cap that only changes 4 times a year.

As above, the fixed rates do not change solely based on the price cap so this may not be the benefit you think it is.

That said, I recently changed providers and set my transfer date 4 weeks in the future. Not sure if it works this way but I guess theoretically you could sign up to a new tariff in September, with a switch date after 03 October, and that may then avoid the switching fees?

Ofgem regulations, you can switch penalty-free during the final 49 days of your fixed-term contract.( O/P mentions 53 days)
