energy packages for low consumption
Hi all. I am a fairly low user of Gas & Electricity, a fair % of my bill comes from the daily charge.
Does anyone know of packages / tariff that have a lower daily charge but a higher unit cost?
Thanks

how low is low on a typical daily basis per fuel ?
and an annuap basis - beware tge low sc only saves upto £150 - and works out more expensive under old Ofgem tdcvs for 75% of homes - in the Octopus case if judged against the standard equivalent 1 yr fix. So check the maths st your usage.
Again as that thread other deals may be cheaper - especially as get anywhere near the breakeven points.
its maybe more suited to people who are away a lot (even when away short term my house uses 1.1-1.4kWh daily - mainly fridge freezer) or second homes as the recovery at least used to be over just 1st 2kWh per day (it may have changed) but you could look at utilita pay as you go

Perhaps, don't be put off by the minimal use requirements if you are seriously low user of gas and/or electric, Octopus email renewal for gas allowed me to go on the low s/c tariff despite being way off the minimum use, 25p a day saving on the s/c albeit 9p unit rate and fixed for a year with £50 exit fee.

So, I have PV Solar which I am able to use very effectively. My combined G&E bill is on average £80 per month on a 5 bed house…

What is it like in winter?

the average is 80 per month.. in the summer I pay somewhere in the region of £15... total for the year is 960

£15 isnt much over the standard ave standing charge if at all.
Is that as near as makes no difference 0 kWh most days import in summer ?
So if only looked at import than maybe in summer you could save on utilita smart pay as you go for import.
But I am guessing you might need a decent export rate in summer for any excess solar - and most of the best rates look like are tied to suppliers import contracts.
Utilita 3p export is far from the best - 12/13/16p on the tied deals. And if your say exporting more than 5-6kWh a day - your going to lose more than the SC saves you on such low rates.
Theres been a couple of import / export how do i compare deals recently - but I didnt read them all the way through - but got the impression from some initial replies - its a question of doing the import and the export donkey work per supplier seperately - at you import / export levels.
