I've now received my claim form. I have completes the AOS today, so have plenty of time to build a defence, keen to get some guidance.

The defence is essentially poor signage. Please see below. I've kept it brief as per advice.

Key Facts: Parking was paid for in good faith via the designated mobile app. Due to inadequate and confusing signage, the payment was applied to the adjacent car park's location code rather than the immediate site.

This is the car park at Milton Keynes Station, there are three main parking areas, no fences between, all in different areas surrounding the station.

Date of Issue is 19/08/2026.

Probably minor, but quite irritating. The pleaded £12.32 is 308 days x £0.04, but £0.04 is the daily rate on £170 rounded up from £0.037. The correct figure for 308 days is £170 x 8% x 308 / 365 = £11.48, an overstatement of 84p. And because the £170 base includes the £70 recovery fee for the whole period, interest has run on that fee from the start date, which if it is the contravention date is before the fee could have arisen.
