This lawyer is stating that there is now a £50 parking charge cap (2 day old video)
I was on youtubYouTube last night and came across this video. Within it a lawyer is stating that private parking charges are now capped at £50. (section 3)
Has he got it wrong or have new laws been passed under the radar?

Yep he's totally wrong, so ignore him!
I stopped watching after point 3. No way was I wasting time watching him maraud hopelessly through ten incorrect points!
Point 2He reckons the mandatory 10 min grace period (in private car parks) is new.
He also says it doesn't apply to council on-street parking.
Totally wrong!The 10 minute grace period in private car parks (allowed after authorised parking) has been a mandatory feature of the BPA Code of Practice since c2015, and on-street it has existed as a mandatory allowance even longer than that!
Point 3As you noticed, he says the (considered bent because it's written by the parking sector) industry Code is 'legislation' and he says that PCNs are capped at £50!
No they really aren't...he has made that up or asked ChatGPT which has misread the position.
I stopped watching after that because he's misleading the public and I won't waste my time on people like him.

Listened to a podcast on BBC Sounds yesterday. The £50 cap is currently going through legislation so is not correct.

But to summarise as per Petrol Prices UK":
There is currently no statutory £50 cap, no legally mandated ten-minute grace period, and no single independent appeals service replacing POPLA and the IAS. Every article and video telling you otherwise has confused the withdrawn 2022 government code — or the pending one — with the law as it stands today.
For the sake of my blood pressure I decided to not watch the YouTube Video!

It's not. There is no new legislation.
There will be a new statutory Code of Practice but we don't know the details yet.

New "Code Of Practise, going through consultation" was the correct term used in the podcast. My mistake.

Agree with @XzavierWalnut this was worth a listen (53mins)
Though I'm not sure how last guest Sara Roberts BPA knows the statutory CoP expected to be laid before Parliament in the autumn "isn’t going to be materially different to the Sector code" (Oct 2024)
Wonder if she had her🤞 when she said that!!
