To answer why I think this is happening more and more – it's lots of different things. I can give more examples but I don't know if it's appropriate to list that much on a public forum.

Weirdly one other recent example was a different offer from Deliveroo. They wouldn't resolve it, so I decided to use Uber the next week, which led me into this situation above. With Deliveroo, it was a "make 3 orders within 30 days and get £8 off" offer. I made 3 orders within 30 days (I checked the exact order dates and times, definitely within 30 days by any definition, and the offer just didn't get applied. So Contacted customer support – one person agreed with me and escalated it, but then it just got rejected, and they stopped replying.

Another example, a bit different this time, would be a couple of bathroom companies who sent damaged goods and just didn't reply when I told them about it (Wet Wall Works, and Better Bathroom)

I can also give dozens of recent examples of being ripped off where the company did resolve it after I complained, but again, it ends up being so much work to keep on top of this kind of thing, I guarantee most customers just can't be bothered, and they just do these things because they know they usually get away with it.

If you can give more details of these cases then maybe people on this forum could help you with this - it's the sort of thing we help people with regularly. (Assuming they happened relatively recently).

  • For the record – I re-opened the ticket with Uber and they relented and paid me back in credit, which I'm counting as a win 😂
