HSBC £500 switch - did anyone screenshot full requirements early july?
I joined on July 4th, and completed my Switch about a week later.
I've not yet received my £500 payout and I want to check the T's and C's more carefully.
unfortunately the email i received on July 4th links to the HSBC site and consequently references T's and C's after July 27th! - also references the £270 credit card offer.
I'm reasonably certain that my T'cs and C's were different. I summarized them in a paragraph to myself… but i want to check.
For instance, to qualitfy for the £500 offer i think i needed:
- make £500 of payments via DD on HSBC card (this doesn't seem be a current requirement)
- pay in at least £5100 salary per month (e.g. £100k pa after tax, pension etc) - or HSBC savings or investments >£100k.
- complete CA switch
- Do all this in less than 60days from account opening (current deal says 90 days)
- HSBC payout within 60d of meeting all the criteria (current deal says 70 days)
also the offer of a credit card payout is different - now it's £270, whereas it was previously £100 for the free card (and i've received that payout).
If you're still reading, I'm getting nervous about the monthly pay-in of Salary, since I've not received the bonus yet. I've made that payment twice from my personal lloyds current account - which has been good enough for many other offers. I've seen some debate about this on various forums with a good number saying that what I'm doing is not sufficient. I'd be prepared to argue that with HSBC, since their terms were ambigous (to me at least) as i recall them, but i'd like to check them in detail first.
I also want to check the debit card payment criteria, since one of those was a manual payment to an energy company. I could easily run another payment through a payment terminal if required.
I normally screen shot the details, but in this case I had an email which used to point to the right T'cs and C's, but because it was a link (which i didn't notice at the time) - it no longer does!
Thanks to anyone who can help me out with the screenshots - or to anyone who can say that got the bonus without direct payment of salary via BACS.

The terms are archived (on 28 June) at https://web.archive.org/web/20260628140327/https://www.hsbc.co.uk/content/dam/hsbc/gb/pdf/promotions/premier-reward-offer-terms-and-conditions.pdf
and this thread discusses the detail, including some screenshots:

Thank you.
I had read those 2 threads (and it helped that they were at odds with what i remembered).
however I've solved my mystery.
I was orginanally going to sign up for the £220 standard cashback - and that's where the T's and C's i remembered came from.
Eg. (using some AI search)The requirement to spend £500 on a debit card applies to HSBC’s standard £220 switch offer, not the £500 HSBC Premier account switch bonus.
HSBC Offer Differences- Standard Account Offer (£220 bonus): To get this £220 cash bonus, you must switch using the Current Account Switch Service (CASS), move at least two active direct debits, pay in £2,000, and spend £500 on your new debit card within 60 days.
- Premier Account Offer (£500 bonus): To get the £500 Premier welcome bonus, you must complete a full switch via CASS and meet high-income or wealth criteria. You need an annual personal salary of at least £100,000 paid into the account, or you must hold/transfer at least £100,000 in savings or investments with HSBC UK
So… i still have a chance, although looks like the £220 would have been a safer bet!
too late now.0 -
This is the original I had posted in the archive on offer start date of 23rd March 2026, I updated the version in the archive when they doubled the offer from £250 to £500 on 14th April 2026.
Archive now contains all 3 T&Cs for the offer.

Has anyone else had trouble with receiving the switch payment from HSBC? Before switching, I called them about the interpretation of the above Ts and Cs on the switch payment. My salary is over the £100k requirement but as I've been paying large amounts into AVCs recently, my take-home is less than the 'typical £5100' mentioned. When I spoke to them, they told me that I should just pay in the extra to make up the amount paid in to over £5100 so I did that but they didn't pay the switch money and are now saying that I didn't meet the criteria. I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar issue - I'm disputing it because of their initial advice to me (sadly on the phone only - I asked her to email me but she said they weren't able to) and the ambiguity of the published terms.
I'll be somewhat frustrated if I don't get the payment as their app, their general offering (eg savings rates) and their customer service are all dire. Ironically, they continue to tell me I have a premier account, despite claiming I don't qualify for one.

Most banks and building societies now routinely record phone calls, and the odds are your call when you were advised this would have been recorded.
If you haven't already, make a formal complaint and ask them to review the call. If you don't know the date/time they should be able to locate it from your profile (assuming you passed security), or from the number you were calling from.
Even if no recording exists, if they don't uphold your complaint you can go to FOS, and the adjudicator/ombudsman will do a 'balance of probabilities' assessment whether your version of events is correct. Although legally it probably shouldn't, HSBC not having a recording of the call (if that were the case) would likely count against them.

for what it’s worth I payed in >5200 for two months - purely by transfers from other bank accounts I own (not employer salary) - and got the £500 a few days ago.
I put a very large amount into AVC’s so my nominal take home is less than £5200, but it’s easy enough to circulate money from savings.1 -
Good to hear
It's "paid" by the way - "payed" is a nautical term relating to winding out rope :)
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
