6" air con vent noise
We live in a terraced house and need to drill a 6" hole for air con vent. Trouble is this will cause some issue about noise travelling through the hole and I a unsure of a solution. Maybe in winter we can simply add a 6" form insert into the hole. Any feedback or solutions would be greatfully received.

I have air con vents, 6 inch diameter 1 upstairs & 1 down. We put a roll of insulation inside during the winter. Nothing to do with noise, more to do with insulation.

When I had a similar hole, the inside hose attachment plate came with a cover disc that went on in winter to cover the inside hole if not seal it fully ait tight… Outside was an air vent type brickwork grid. The hole was plastic pipe lined. Draughts rather than noise coming in was the 'problem' I perceived.
I rolled up some thickish plastic bubble type insulation and filled it with that. Other insulating type materials can be used… e.g. wool, or discs of Celotex. Or a cushion with a water resistant bag or cover. Depends on what is to hand to try.
I'm sure you can work out a solution.
NB Air con running the noise from the outside vent could be heard, obviously - but not a problem for us in a detached bungalow away from neighbours and the road.
