Klarna has linked another account to my details — advice?
I’m hoping someone can advise me because I’m really confused by something that happened with Klarna.
Back in 2024, my Klarna card suddenly stopped working. When I contacted Klarna, they told me that around 20 different email addresses/accounts were linked to my personal details. I didn’t recognise any of them.
After investigating, Klarna said they had de-linked all but one account. They then told me that the remaining account had an invoice which had been sent to debt collection, and that this was stopping me from using Pay Later on my genuine account.
In an email dated 26 December 2024, Klarna said:
“you have an another account with us with your same details and you have an invoice that was sent to debt collection”
I asked them which email address this account was using, but they wouldn’t give me the full address. The email addresses they showed me were masked, and I didn’t recognise any of them.
What’s confusing is that the other account apparently doesn’t have my address, and I have checked my credit reports and there is no unexplained Klarna debt showing.
I’m 100% certain I didn’t open or use this other account. I’m wondering whether Klarna has somehow matched me to somebody else’s account because of a similar name/date of birth or some other personal detail.
I haven’t heard anything from Klarna about this since December 2024, but I’ve just installed the app again and the same restriction is still showing — it says there’s an overdue balance linked to a connected account.
Has anyone experienced anything similar with Klarna? How can I find out why they have linked this other account to me, and whether I need to do anything to make sure this alleged debt can never be attributed to me?
I don’t want to use Klarna again but I don’t want any unexplained debt linked to my account which backfire me one day.. I never missed any payments on my credit agreements
Thank you

Do a DSAR on Klarna.
Wait for the results and take it from there - if the 'debts' are showing on the report start a formal complaint.
