Silicone inside shower enclosure?
Hello
I have someone coming over to apply new silicone to my shower due to a leak.
He is adamant I should apply silicone both inside and outside of the enclosure.
I have been told by some others it should be only outside.
I've got pretty much the same shower enclosure as in this video and the guy also says dont do it inside.

I see why doing only outside would work on a majority of the frame but I cant figure out this void im red.
Clearly there is a gap between the post and tray and if I dont seal it then whats stopping water from leaking? I understand there is a bit of a slop but that would work only with a very small amount of water.
I am really desperate to get this right so any advise would be very welcomed.

The two shower doors I’ve had came with a diagram showing where (and where not) to apply the silicone.
You’re correct that most of the silicone goes on the outside as the inside (certainly at the bottom edge) needs to be open to allow water to drain out of the frame into the tray, but there will be a few inside points like the sides of the frame that will need silicone.
Do you have the installation guide or can you find it online? Most manufacturers have these as pdf files on their websites these days.

Unfortunately I don't know the shower was already in place when I moved in and there is no indication of brand or model on the frame. It looks the same as on that youtube video though

Is this the same person who is doing the re grouting for you?
If the person says it needs 2 lots of silicone then let them do it because if they only do 1 and it leaks then it's down to you but doing both sides and then it leaks later they will have to come back and redo it.
Post up pic of the screen and someone may know the manufacturer.

Yes, it is the same person hence why I am tempted to go with their advice for exactly the same reason.
I just was after some reassurance this makes sense since most people say this shouldn't be done like this and I prefer to fix the issue at source rather than relying on a good will of tradesmen to come back and fix it.
I managed to identify the enclosure since yesterday and it is 800x1200mm 8mm premium easyclean offset quadrant shower enclosure reversible
As far as I can see it should be silicone only outside, which leaves me in a pickle.

Not sure if this is any good for you but it may help you

Thanks a lot. I have found a similar and both say silicone only outside.
