Free car hire -too good to be true?

Three days ago I made an online reservation for car rental and the quote came out at ZERO for 22 days hire. I went through the online booking process expecting a figure to come up at some stage but completed the entire booking at zero cost. I have received my confirmation, and it stipulates that the price is guaranteed. Nothing has been charged to my credit card, and as far as I can see the link is still there set at zero pounds.

I've read the T's & C's of booking and there is no reference made to the company cancelling the booking. They also have a "Company Promise" stating "All inclusive rates guarantee no surprises at the desk".

I was just wondering if anyone has encountered anything like this before, and whether they will have to honour this?

Many thanks, GG

Might be an idea to ring up and double check that the booking is ok. Don't say anything about not paying just ask a stupid question, ie did I state the correct date?
  • I was thinking about that, but I'm nervous about bursting my bubble! I can log in and review my booking online, which I've done a few times to see if anything's changed -and it's still sitting there with a big fat zero!

If you've got all the details online, print them off and take them with you when you go to get the car. You should be ok because it will be in writting infront of them. You can usually hire cars when you get to the airport from this company anyway so if it all goes wrong just hire another and pay when you get there!
  • That's what I was thinking but.... and here's the other part to the dilema -the cost quoted for the same car paying on arrival is 900 pounds, whereas another company I've seen on Travelsupermarket is quoting 480 pounds for their online booking. So I don't know whether to take the risk or not!

Worst case scenario if they don't honour the £0.00 booking - find an internet cafe at your destination (or poss at the airport!) and book the cheaper deal there!

As you have not paid anything for the reservation there is no contract and no comeback if they don't honour it.
