Warning over Amazon Barclaycard
Just been told by Amazon Barclaycard that they currently can't increase people's credit limits.
Just to be clear, I don't mean that they won't give me a higher credit limit but that on the Amazon Barclaycard the system isn't set up to be able to do this 🤬
I have never heard anything so ridiculous for a major brand - apparently they've had lots of complaints (who would have guessed!) and are looking into this and hope to introduce it by the end of the year.
So just a rant and also a warning for anyone else with this card or thinking about getting one.

It's a poor setup yes, equally though I suspect there are people complaining because their credit profile gave them a low limit and they won't get a higher one anyway
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

I'd always take what a call centre agent says with a pinch of salt… did a decade in them before finally escaping and they are the worst place for chinese whispers plus with the heavy pressure on metrics like average call length people will repeat things they've heard that sounds plausable than spend a load of time trying to speak to a team manager or technical support area and fail to meet your KPI for the day.

The "What is a Credit Limit?" text available from the Barclaycard app lends some weight to the call centre agent's statement.
Not clear if it's just increase requests via the app that are the issue or a more systemic problem.

Interesting. I was given £2k when I applied for mine which suits me well.

I got £3K, plenty as an additional card. The £50 sweetener and so far 3 £5 vouchers are enough to keep me happy with it.

I also believe you can't switch to a different type of Barclaycard in the app if you have the Amazon Barclaycard
You can with other Barclaycards
