£2500 life insurance top cash back.
I signed up to the confused.com £2500 cash back through top cash back in April 2024, the initial transaction had not properly tracked. I through the website and was claim be put on ice for several months.. I then contacted them several months later and was told they were looking into it with the insurer who was Liverpool Victoria. Months went by without me receiving any contact so I had to make chases throughout the time constantly being told that they were looking into it without actually giving me much detail. I made a number of complaints through the platform and this didn’t seem to really get me the specified answers I was looking for. This situation got so bad I sent them a number of messages stating I would take the claim to small claims court. I was eventually contacted in June 2026 and they asked me for proof of the payments I had made along with a copy of the original agreement. I provided this information to them two years to come up with this sort of possible solution and they’ve now agreed to pay my cashback. This is to serve as a warning if you take up this offer, there seem to be quite a few stalling tactics and maybe they were hoping I would eventually go away, but I persevered and managed to get what I was rightly entitled to.
Has anyone else had similar experience?

I have experienced very long delays when I ask them to investigate missing cashback claims.
They do explain that asking follow-up questions or 'chasing' will slow everything down, since you lose your place in the queue. And they also make it very clear that cashback is not guaranteed, so your threats of legal action were counter-productive.
I am surprised that they did eventually pay a substantial sum for a transaction that did not track: they were not obliged to do so.0 -
I believe there may be a legal route as most people would expect the payment as you meet the conditions set out, it forms a type of contract in good faith.
cash back is not gauranteeed if the retailer goes bust then it would be reasonable not to expect the cash back, but that does not give them the right to simply refuse even if the transaction doesn’t track correctly, I had proof of payment so they paid.0 -
There may be a legal avenue but you arent going to be able to prove that you met all the conditions and only be able to provide your own statement that you believe you did, no one takes a copy of every cookie they had on their device or a copy of the tracking firms database to actually have evidence.
Depending on exactly which solution the vendor/supplier is using and how many solutions they use it should be relatively easy for them to prove if the terms were met. The cost of marketing for an insurer are exceptionally high, clearly in this case at least £2,500 and more likely higher. Their terms therefore have to be tight to ensure you dont come on to this site, click one of their affiliate links, then go to Confused.com and apply via their and so both MoneySupermarket (owner of this site) and Confused.com both can claim £3,000 (with 1 having to pass you £2,500).
Terms can say either the first or last referrer gets the payout, if its the first then how long each referral lasts for can vary significantly. For example Amazon referal cookies last 24 hours if someone clicks onto the site and leaves without adding anything to their basket but it increases to 89 days if an item is added to the cart. Can you really remember if you visited the site within 89 days before you ultimately bought the policy 2 years later?
