A31 Southampton to Bournemouth is closed
Hi,
Now been closed for 10 days (for 30 miles including bit of M27) due to surrounding forest fire damage to road. No sign of re-opening. Just took me 1 hour and 10 mins to get from Bournemouth to Southampton at around 1300hrs Tuesday.
[EDIT…That was via A35 through Lyndhurst, ie the recomended diversion ENDofEDIT]
The westbound way looks much worse, specially due to the huge queue i saw on the westbound M27 after southampton.
Going westbound, is it better to go up to Salisbury on the A36 then come down the A338 thru' Fordingbridge?
To all the many the poor people going EASTbound who turned left at the M27 sign after Lyndhurst, my sympathies, as i nearly did that too…but you have to continue on towards Ower as the M27 is shut on the bit spoken of.

Why not use the A35?

Gridlock at Christchurch and Lyndhurst…reckon quicker to go up to Salisbury on A36, then back down the A338 thru' Fordingbridge?
