Sounds scammy, but the immediate questions I'd walk through are WHAT and WHY:
- What is the 'work' that they are wanting done?
- Why would they spend money on that task, does it make sense that they benefit from this more than say getting a bot to do it?
- Why would they need to discuss via Telegram?
- Why would they need to pay in Crypto rather than a bank transfer?
Do not get pulled in by the fact they returned initial money, that could just be to test whether you're willing and to build trust with you, before they start extracting more personal data / money / both.

My adult child got caught out by these and lost 2k. He was trying to get a loan for 16k before we realized what was happening he lost 4k bank gave him half back.
