Is this a real job or a scam

Any help or advise.

I applied for a work from home job (that's what I'm looking for due to health problems) filled in a form, was contacted and told about a few job positions.

I did my recherche the website had Https:// , was listed on companies house and on the gov. I used Google maps to confirm the address.

So I went the next step but they said while I wait for the work to be delivered I could join their YouTube site and get paid to like videos. As I had check them out I thought ok a bit of money is all good.

Then I was given a like for telegram and told to down load and join a group so I did. This led me to a site which I checked again and it seemed to be listed but it was a crypto site and I was sold that to get my wages I would need to open an account pay £10 into it. (https://cryp-usd.com/#/) So I did and I done what I was told and I got a refund of my £10 and of money earned.

Before I go any further with this job I'm looking for any advice if this is a real job or a scam.

I have done the checked which I have read about over the years so I hope that I've done the correct things.

What working from home job did you apply for? For me, in general crypto would be a huge red flag. Unless I had applied for a job connected to cryptocurrency.
The crypto site you have registered with looks dodgy. It’s not registered, the owners have hidden who they are and it hasn’t been around for long.

can you share the job advert that you saw?

It sounds a bit suss to me - but if I understand correctly, then you are currently in the +£

A red flag for me would be if the next (or any future) request was for a bigger sum

They also seem to be very new with hidden details. There is a fair chance that your contact details might well have been shared so do you need to be very aware that you may now be targeted by other scammers trying to pull you in.

Also look up task trap scam.

I’m not the biggest fan of AI tools because they get things wrong and they make things up, but they can be a useful starting point to help with any other checks if you have queries about companies because they can search the web a lot of faster than we can . As long as you then do your own independent research as well.

That site was registered in March of this year, no physical address or named contacts, main contact mechanism is by WhatsApp.

When you mention searching Companies House, was this for a company that you were sent to from the remote-tonx site? Can you share that company?

Asking Google if its a scam site gets this answer….

Yes, Remote-tonx.com is a scam. It uses a common fake job scheme to steal personal and financial information from job seekers.

    [1]How the Scam Works

    • Fake Tasks: They contact people through chat apps like WhatsApp and ask you to do simple things like liking videos on YouTube.
    • False Promises: They tell you that you passed a test and offer small cash rewards to gain your trust.
    • Data Theft: They push you to download apps like Telegram and demand your private bank details or personal IDs under the guise of setting up your pay. [1]

    Warning Signs

    • Real employers do not use random chat bots or ask for bank details through Telegram before a proper hire.
    • Multiple users report that this specific site is completely fraudulent and meant for data theft. [1, 2]

Do not share any personal details, do not download apps they recommend, and do not send them any money. You can read user warnings on Trustpilot. [1, 2, 3]

There's a number of good posts above explaining why this is a scam and to watch out for anything similar especially with home working jobs, genuine ones do exist but scammers know people are keen for this type of job and will take advantage of it.

Just to expand on the https:// bit though because I wouldn't put too much weight into that existing. It's worth a check but all it really means is that the site is who it says it is, the only check done to get the https bit is whether you manage the domain or not. It's more useful to prevent sites impersonating others and means you can get websites that are complete scams but show as having a valid https connection
