Morning all
Nice and busy on here this morning!
I've got my house back! Just nicknacks to put back and a wash the new floor and it will be back to normal time
Scarlet I keep seeing the sun setting just that little bit earlier each night and know it'll soon be getting dark even earlier. Obviously happens every year but still gives me the hump :-(
{{Hugs}} to all the poorlies and their families x

Morning All
Thanks for the start Gers, hope you have a better night.
DP1 bless LO she is such a little trooper x
TA hope news re DD and DF comes soon, it's the waiting that makes us all anxious x
So so glad it is cooler today the past couple of days have been unbearable. Not sure how but on Wednesday night I did something to my shoulder and on Thursday I went for a mam and the lady doing it pulled my arm and I was in agony for rest of the day and night. It felt like it had popped, anyway a few paracetamol and an early night and this morning almost back to normal just a little tender hey ho.
We also had the alarm on our phones, almost made me drop mine. Feel so sorry for those poor people who have lost their homes through no fault of their own. Stay safe.
Hope everyone has a better day in the cooler weather hugs to all who want them.

Hi everyone,
We are home, we decided that we had done enough running around in the heat although we really had a lovely time. Yesterday was a visit to Chepstow Castle and then a walk along Offa's Dyke. We got home about eleven. I'm thankful we did because Steve has come down with a man ailment. He thinks it's a chest infection but I'm reserving judgement, he's having health anxiety since he started having investigations on his heart. When he was having chemo I had to reassure him that if he really did have diabetes or kidney disease they would have found it the number of comprehensive blood tests he had!
The garden is dead, we were one of the first to go on a hosepipe ban and we've had no more than a few spots of rain since and temperatures regularly in the late twenties, early thirties. Even today, although it's overcast it is still very warm.
Laura and Brian and the children are now at the yorkshire house and Laura is worrying they won't be warm enough.
Gers, I hope the meds work. dp1, same for the casts.
Have a good day.

Afternoon all, thanks @Gers.
@TA The waiting for news is the worst part. ((Hugs)).
@Gers - Fingers crossed the new meds do the trick.
@AA - Good news your mum is back home, hopefully things will be more settled now.
@dp1 - Aw, something else for LO to contend with. Give her a big hug from me. 💌
@Chrisca - Woo hoo! Enjoy having your house back.
After a very uncomfortable sweaty night (I slept on top of the bed rather than in it) I'm happy today is cooler, even though the sun is hiding. Curtains and blinds are now closed just after 8.30 pm, a sure sign autumn is getting nearer. In some ways I look forward to it because the cooler weather suits me, I like to see the changing colours of the trees and making the house cosy for winter. I don't mind the winter cold if the days are bright and sunny but hate the darkness, rain, snow and ice. And it seems to drag on for so long.
I did a very small quick shop yesterday but my word that Co-op is so uninspiring! Their freezers were completely empty too, I'm guessing because they couldn't cope with the hot weather. When I got home I booked a Sains delivery slot for this afternoon and am (a) pleased I managed to be so restrained and (b) everything I ordered is in stock. I've given the inside of the fridge and shelves a clean, have my crates ready by the door and am all ready for when it arrives. Not too many frozen items either so no freezer tetris required. 😁 I didn't get the emergency fire warning on my phone yesterday but it is an old Nokia so not expected anyway. The fires are dreadful and my heart goes out to those who've been affected.
DS has spent time on the phone to his bank this morning querying a pending payment for something he doesn't recognise. It turns out it's a recurring payment the bank can't cancel and he needs to contact the company directly to do that. They have however cancelled his card, are issuing a new one and have directed him to make a repayment claim for this transaction. He still not sure who it is but good old mum has a pretty good idea - if I'm right it's a rather dodgy practice that doesn't make it clear you're signing up to a subscription after a trial period. 🤨 I feel a finance lecture is brewing!
I used to do a lot of dressmaking but nowadays only get the sewing machine out for alterations or making simple things like cushion covers etc. I've no intention of making clothes again once I've used the fabric I already have. @Scarlet & @TA - Yes, those pattern prices were jaw-dropping. @Izzy - Thanks for the suggestion and yes, I will be looking for patterns in the CSs once the weather cools down. There are 5 in my area but there's no direct bus to them and it's a jolly long walk for my little old legs! It does make for an afternoon out though once I get there! 😉 And there are a couple of nearby coffee shops should I feel the need.
Two loads of washing done and out to dry, hanging baskets (exhausted and dead) taken down, shopping to put away, dinner to make (as yet undecided) and that's about my day.
Take care all, enjoy the weekend. Thoughts with the not-so-well and a wave to our MIA. xx
Be kind to others and to yourself too.7 -
@dp1 - Sending little one hugs from America. Having the casts on will be frustrating. She is doing so well with all that is happening, she is setting a good example for all of us.
