2014 Ford Focus instrument cluster removal

Hi DS is attempting to remove the instrument cluster but has come unstuck with disconnecting the power cable/electric connector. There is a lever you are supposed to use to free it but it won't budge. I would be grateful for any suggestions.

WD-40? Or some other lubricant....

Don't use wd40 on it, look for a knurled edge just before the lever push this down and it will release the lever.

DS failed to find the knurled edge so I'll have to find a professional. Thanks for your input tedted.

Watch around 3.30 onwards, there's a clip on the multiplug that needs releasing.

You push the small tab down on the top of the plug and then lift the lever over it.

DS says it's different to the one in the video. He's been looking at a lot of videos on you tube and he said that one was the clearest he's come across. Thanks for your input Goudy.

I took a photo as you can see. That's the only angle I can get; I am no wiser.

I haven't seen one like that on a instrument cluster but it look like the ones on ecu's, lift the little tag and slide the bottom away from where the wires enter it should lift up and come away

2012-17 Ford Focus Instrument Cluster Removal

This is the same one as yours.

Press and hold down the protruding tab (1) while lifting/pushing the lever (2) over to the right (over the top of 1)

The plug will then automatically lift a little and pull away from the socket.

Refit in reverse, just push the plug into the socket and lift the lever over the protruding tab, it will then pull the plug down and lock it into place.
