I was 17 throughout the events in question in 2024, and only turned 18 in 2025. Under the Minors' Contracts Act 1987, a contract for a loan made with a minor is not enforceable against me. I never signed any written loan agreement, and there was no interest rate or repayment schedule agreed with me personally. Furthermore, the money paid towards the car came from another account.
Comments about their timeline (optional)I was 17 years old, a minor, throughout the entirety of the events surrounding the van purchase in 2024. Under the Minors' Contracts Act 1987, any financial arrangement entered into during this period is not enforceable against me, as this law specifically protects minors from being bound by contracts, including loans, made before they turn 18. before any money was transferred. This undermines any suggestion that this was a clean, agreed loan for a boat that met expectations. On 2024, £x,000 was transferred into my account, but it came from x account, not directly from Mr X. I never signed any written loan agreement, and no interest rate or repayment schedule was ever agreed with me personally. This is a direct, contemporaneous statement.

Statement of truthI believe that the facts stated in this response are true. I understand that proceedings for contempt of court may be brought against anyone who makes, or causes to be made, a false statement in a document verified by a statement of truth without an honest belief in its truth. The hearing requirement details on this page are true to the best of my knowledge.
