Exactly this. But your Mum may also find that she’s expected to pay the cost of returning the item back to China. The consumer rights act isn’t going to be enforceable against a foreign company with no assets over here.
Could she cut her losses and try and sell it on while we are still in a heat waveAll shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Have you been to help you mum get it out of the box & get it running?

So I believe it's a different model to the one she ordered. The model she ordered is 18 watt https://lunirel.com/products/portable-room-air-conditioner-energy-efficient-windowless
The model she received is only 3 watt according to the instructions with it.
My mother is an intelligent woman but at 88 things can be difficult. She ordered it on line herself.
I live 5 hours away and am currently unable to visit which is very frustrating. She took it out of the box when she got it but got flummoxed as it was usb only.
I will check how she paid as the card company might be able to help. Thank you for all the advice and information on the type of company it is.

Hello
My mother xxx recently purchased an air conditioner from you. Unfortunately the wrong model was delivered. She is very elderly and is having problems correcting this mistake. I believe you have said you would send the correct machine and a discount. I live quite far but would like to help her sort this as she has paid a lot of money and needs an air conditioner in the current heatwave as she is unable to regulate her temperature well. Please could you let me know how this is being dealt with. Thank you(Removed by Forum Team)Dear (Removed by Forum Team),

I have attached a photo of the model my mother received and details of the order. This photo shows my mother received the wrong order. Is this sufficient? She is 88 years old and this is difficult for her. Can you arrange to collect this unsolicited model she received and refund her?
Thank you (Removed by Forum Team)

That is not an air conditioner, it is a fan with a swamp cooler in the bottom. The product you link to is also 110v which means it is for the US market and not usable in the UK. The image of their London store was generated in Nano Banana (Google AI), most of the images on their site are from AliExpress or Temu and the majority are AI generated.

To my mind it is mis-sold.
It is not an air conditioner it is a fan as advised:

And they have not replied, despite 2 further short emails asking if there were any updates. And the telephone number given with the order is discontinued.

Technically they are within their rights to ignore you, you are not the customer, your mother is. If your mother wants to take this to her bank then she needs to attempt contact with them.

I hope that wasn’t a very significant sum of money for her because it’s best to assume it’s gone.
if you ever get a shipping / return process from them you’ll probably have to pay the return shipping yourself with high probability of receiving nothing in return.
following that link - their shop is closing for business now - but they have a closing sale!
also it’s not an AC as we would assume it. Just a device for blowing air over evaporating water - but at either 3w or 18w blowing it very slowly! Technically that air’s condition is very slightly changed in the process. There are no effective very small real air-conditioners that I’m aware of. If you don’t have an outdoor exhaust vent then you’re fighting physics.

Also you might want to anonymise at least your mother’s name in the above post.
