Not sure if this is the place for help but our nintendo ds is broke i bought it in April for my daughters birthday in may and now its broke it just stopped working, she was playing with it fine one minute turned it off put it down them came back to it about 15 mins later and it just wasn't working, i can't find my receipt i had it lying around for months but my dh has thrown it away i can show the transaction on my debit card statement but virgin megastore claim to not keep receipt numbers after 28 days i could really do with some advice with what to do next have been trying to ring nintendo but have had no joy not sure if its a post-xmas thing but they've not answered our email which we sent on xmas eve, this is really starting to stress me out especially since it broke on xmas eve and my daughter was convinced father christmas was going to bring her a new one and she keeps asking why she didn't get one when she changed her xmas list, any help would be greatly appreciated

oops sorry will repost this in consumer rights0
-
how did you pay for it? do you have bank statement proof?
contact nintendo direct and see if there is anything they can help you with
PS- no such forum as consumer rights!!0 -
As long as you can show the amount being taken from your account and the name of the store then there shouldnt be a problem... Only thing will be Virgin might try and wriggle out of it so just go to Trading standards and they will advise..
I had something like that with LITEON when my DVD recorder went bust after 18months.. Argos dont keep reciepts so all I had to do was to show them the transaction from my account with the correct price.0 -
The transaction showing on your statement is considered to be proof of purchase. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

My sons broke about 6 months after we bought it. The top screen just stopped working. We took it back (with the receipt) to the shop where we bought it from and they changed it with no problems.0

hi,
if you can print out the bit where it shows your credit card transaction, keep trying nintendo because they will repair free of charge with proof of purchase.
i have done this 5 times now and i can't fault nintendo at all, they are the best company i have ever dealt with.
you will get a repair number and a free address to send it to nintendo and should get either it repaired or a replacement within 1-2 weeks.
hope this helps.0 -
Hi, my step-daughters DS lite broke a few weeks ago and it was bought for her christmas 06, it was from Argos so her mum took it back (without receipt) and they sent it back to be repaired, they said it may cost to be repaired but may not. Anyway it got sent back to the house, repaired free of charge.0

virgin megastore has rubbish customer service, just read a few of the posts on here of the problems they have had, probibly down to the fact that, they are now not richard branson virgin , another company own it and they dont want to pick up the pieces of virginmegastores problems
did you register the ds with nintendo, if you did then they will have a date on when and where you bought the machine, also if it is a ds light they the have not been around as long as the normal ds, so they might of only been making them for about a year, so as such all of them in the country must still have a warranty with nintendo0 -
last time when i found out my ds's touch screen didn't work very well, i took it to nintendo (i live nearby) without proof of purchase, they swap a new one for me! and said to me i can have another 12 month warrenty. And given me a few demo games and Nintendo magazine for goodwill.
so I will suggest you to try nintendo.0 -
found this website a while ago, have not used them but other people had and said it was an excellent service.

up to you if you think it is worth it, or maybe try john lewis as they have the £20.00 off £100.00 spend at the mo.
