    Hi,
I have found Nintendo to be extremely helpful although pretty poor on commuication. My son managed to break his DS whilst in a tantrum whilst it was still in warranty (but I don't think warranties cover abuse !!). After letting him stew for a couple of months I just sent the DS lite to Nintendo to ask where I could get it repaired and how much approx. it would cost - I think I printed out my email confirmation from Virgin Megastores as proof of purchase (even though it was totally my son's fault and not a defect in anyway). I had no communication from them but after a short while we received a brand new DS Lite in the post from them! - No note or anything !
Then a couple of months ago (now out of warranty) the hinge started to crack. I emailed them on 21st November again asking where I could get it repaired and cost. They didn't reply so I chased them up by email on 5th December. On 14th December I got an email saying that they would repair it and the email had an attachment to print off which was pre-paid postage to their Service Centre .
In other words - it is quite slow to get hold of them but they seem to be pretty good when you manage it !

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO TAKE TIME TO POST COMPETITIONS
  • Thanks everyone for the help i managed to get my money back off Virgin (Zavvi) they were really helpful said they don't do repairs but will offer either store credit for when they're in stock or my money back took the latter and am v. impressed, anyone know where ds lites are in stock:D ?

    Hi

My son's DS top screen has broken - does anyone know if this can be repaired ... or do we need to get a new console? He has only had it since Christmas  .

    hi

this company sells replacement screens top screen £20.00 or they can repair them for you for £36.95. they also sell the bottom screens. there may be cheaper and i have not used them but have heard they are very good.

Thank you very much for this - will be a great help. Perhaps he will be able to save £20.00 with his pocket money rather than the whole console price  before this Christmas!

Teach him not to "stab" the screen with the pen when he gets stressed playing!! lol - expensive lessons they have to learn!!
  • please don't fork out any money for a repair, nintendo will repair or replace for free, all you need to do is email or phone them and you will get a repair number and a free postage sticker. nintendo dont care how it was broke, aslong as it is within 1 yr old and you have your proof of purchase.
