Another beautiful day but we are due another heatwave over the next few days it’s meant to get up to the 30’s again today 🥵

I’m off to mums this morning to do a couple of hours, the carers started Monday and it went well for that day as I was there too, yesterday the carer turned up and was there for 9 minutes ( she gets paid for 45 mins ) I called mum to ask what had happened and she said she sent her away as she wasn’t hungry 🙄 I told her that she was paying for a 45 min visit and she is not to send them away, I then called the agency and they confirmed mum had sent them away I explained to them that they need to ignore mum if she tells them to leave and that she would now have no dinner and would eat rubbish all day, mum had told the carer that I was cooking her a dinner which was not true as I was working, to their credit a different person arrived within 1/2 hr and cooked mum a lunch and made her a sandwich for later but I do need to chat to her today and explain again that she needs to accept this help otherwise it may have to be a nursing home as she is just not coping alone, it’s very difficult as she thinks she is coping but in reality she is far from it.

Dinner tonight for OH and I is salmon fillet with new potatoes and peas, dd is working so will eat there.

We are still waiting for a move date for dd but we don’t think it will be before our holiday now.

@RedRuby1231 - what a difficult situation you're in. Probably your DM is having a problem accepting that she's not coping after a long life of being in control of everything. My late Dad mostly refused too, took him two years to agree to give up his four bedroom house for a lovely wee sheltered bungalow and even railed against letting the GP and nurses in when needed. It's an ongoing battle. Perhaps the thought of a care home will settle your DM's Mum a bit. Hugs.

Yesterday wasn't such a good day, however it was fine. I had a wee mind wobble but got my balance back later, acceptance is the key for me. Today is rather dull outside though we're promised heat. I've got a quick wash on and then will do a white one and get everything hanging out.

There's more chicken for lunch, must use up a soft avocado too.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. You were an early bird this morning.

It's a beautiful start for us with the sun shining and the sky blue. I plan on doing a few jobs before the temp racks up to 30 deg later then an afternoon of sloth. Tomorrow set to be even hotter, maybe up a high as 35 deg (eek) so I am bringing the Thursday jobs forward a day so kitchen and bathroom here I come.

I met my DF as planned yesterday and I think it did both of us good offloading our worries, We even managed a few laughs inbetween, but that may have been thanks to the couple of glasses of wine we had! It was fairly quiet inside but someone said it was busy in the outside area so we avoided that. I was down in town early before our meet up so I had a wander round a couple of shops. Wise move as I snapped up a couple of bargains. Buy one get one free on the items I wanted in H & B, followed by a white denim jacket in a sale. It's a bit unusual with broderie anglaise type cut outs. I dithered before succumbing, but not for long.

The family are due back from France today and I think they enjoyed it despite the horrendous heat there. DD says the derelict farmhouse DN and her DH renovated is absolutely beautiful.

IZZY I'm sorry you are feeling down in the dumps and taken for granted just now. I agree with others, leave them to it and take yourself off on a few bus rides. You'll be surprised, with a bit of forward planning, just how far you can get in a day. Time to spoil yourself.

morning everyone thanks for the start Gers. It’s a warm one here I’m off out to a cleaning job soon little dog is at the vet this afternoon just for her 6 month check up and her prescription probably need a gold bar to pay for all of that .RR what a worry about your mum it’s hard to get them to accept they need help my MIL refused to have carers in she used to keep the door locked she said they only wanted to know her business asking her if she had had a nice weekend she wouldn’t accept it was just something they asked everyone they were just been chatty she had us worn out . I’m at my book club tonight it will be something easy to make before I go I had better have a look in the freezer . Thinking of all the poorlies hugs to those that need them have a good day everyone whatever you are doing

Thanks for the start Gers, hope the wobbles have passed.

Lovely day out yesterday at the Botanic Gardens in Glasgow, met a good friend and we had a wander and something to eat at their cafe. Enjoyed the walk from the train station to the Gardens and back again. Once home I walked back down into town to drop off a parcel for a Vinted item I sold. Certainly got my steps in yesterday!

Washing to go on when I've had a shower, it should dry today although it's warm and cloudy at the moment, not sure we will see anything of the eclipse here.

Glad you managed a good chat with your pal TA.

Pleased to hear the pain is easing Suffolksue.

Hope your Mum accepts the help Ruby, it's a very worrying situation for you.

My last day of the summer holidays today, need to drop some veggies off for DD as they come back from their hols today. Will call at the allotments on my way back. I thought about going into work today to get a head start but have decided against it.

Morning all. Still bright and sunny here. We have lost all the plants in the tubs, apart from the chives, but I'm still waiting for the Victoria plums on the tree to fully ripen. The ants have got to a few of the plums but there are plenty left for us.

Today I'm off to help at the Larder and I haven't a clue what we'll have for dinner tonight. I'm hoping inspiration will strike; if not I can make stilton and broccoli soup.

DH has had a post cataract appointment with our optometrist and he's going to get some glasses for driving at night, as his astigmatism means he is still a bit bothered by the bright headlights. I think he'll take his old frames in to see if he can have the appropriate lenses made.

Hope all the wobbles are fading; look after yourselves

Good morning

Bright and sunny with blue skies, temperatures set to hit 34degs.

Another day of pottering, this hot weather wears me out just doing small jobs, I'm not enjoying it as I get older. I got the cupboards tidied yesterday eventually, I told OH I'll take photos so he knows where everything goes.

Will cook a gammon joint in the pressure cooker for tonight, DH can have hot gammon rolls and I'll have mine with salad, again.

@RedRuby1231 I hope your mum realises she needs help and accepts it, it's a worry for you.

Another day in a nice hot bedroom for me! The flooring is done apart from the entrance bit and it looks lovely and goes well with our wooden furniture too.

Hi everyone,

We're still away, the hotel is lovely but the bedroom is too hot (even with a pillar fan). We went to Salisbury yesterday and had a wander round. Today we're going to Bristol but may detour to somewhere to watch the eclipse.

TA, echoing what everyone else has said, take care of yourself, best wishes for dd and friends.

Coxy, I'm sorry for your loss.

Izzy and Remmie, I hope you feel better soon.

Ruby, Dad was the same, he wouldn't have anyone in the house, insisting he and mum could cope even though they were both infirm.

Morning all, thanks @Gers.

@Ruby - Oh dear, the situation with your mum and her carers sounds so familiar; I had the same problem with my late DF. I agree with Gers it could be a reluctance to accept help after always being independent and maybe a feeling of having her privacy invaded too. It's a worry and I wish I could offer a solution. Hang on in there. x

It's already quite warm and, like others, this morning I'll be doing what needs to be done before it gets too hot. I've the pleasure of the phone call from the CVRM clinic to look forward to today but have decided I don't want to participate so it will be a short call! I do hope they won't be too miffed or pushy. Tea tonight has yet to be decided, something that doesn't need much cooking springs to mind, maybe pizza or scampi with salad.

Nothing else happening here so I'll get a move on. Take care all and have a good day. xx
