press the PrtSc button on your keyboard, then paste it into paint or other software and save it0

On a Windows PC, for a copy of the current window, press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Print Scrn buttons.
It will then be in clipboard for pasting to a document.
The "cheapest" way -open Start > Accessories > Paint
then press Ctrl + V
then you can save it as a picture.*************************

Try Fastone Screen Capture 3.5 (last free version):
http://oldapps.com/old_version_FSCapture.php
Allows capture of whole screen, part screen, selected windows without having to go through Paint.Charlie0 -
Alternatively you can try MWSnap, available here. I see from the website that it hasn't been updated since 2002, but it runs fine under Windows XP and is free and very versatile."The trouble with quotations on the Internet is that you never know whether they are genuine" - Charles Dickens0

Think it's ALT and PrtScr for the active window, Ctrl and PrtScr for the full desktop to copy into the clipboard, the Ctrl and P to paste it into whatever (Paint, Word, or Wordpad - won't work in text-based programs like Notepad).0
