If your battery was charged from the mains and then force discharged to the mains 3 times a day that would consume about 16 kWh each day and export maybe 15 kWh. And that might be what your display is showing you. That would give you a big electricity bill and meter readings for import and export that are very similar. So my guess is that the settings for your battery are completely wrong. Can you turn it off for a day and see what happens?

Reed_Richards my battery app always shows the data in this format and style. Solar starts quite early after sunrise and peaks before dropping off and diminishing. I'll post a photo of yesterday's solar so it's also 10 August.

Thank you for information on backlight. I was given no information whatsoever and the cupboard has no light switch.

Did you determine what the dangling clamp was attached to and are you sure it was fitted the correct way around?

I'm not familiar with "Sunny"; how is the "day yield" determined? It looks like you were generating at least 1 kW from 09:00 to 15:00 so you would have generated well in excess of 6 kWh but the "day yield" is 2.444 kWh.

On the other hand, you have managed to export about 16 kWh per day since your smart meter was installed.

It's not the format and style of your battery app that concerns me, it's the information that it conveys which looks all wrong to me.

I'm wondering if the battery is seeing export as import due to CT clamp fitted in correctly and it is ramping up output to try to cover it, or something similar…

My electrician identified a dangling clamp and Octopus sent an engineer the next day, who fitted it. Both clamps are shown on the photo I posted. Personally I have to trust because I've no idea.

Reed_Richards the Sunny explorer is an app that reads the inverter via Bluetooth. I've used it since the solar panels were installed in 2011. However I use the solar meter to report the yield quarterly to British Gas. The two never have the same reading.

I think the "power" that you seeing on the sunny app refers to the solar power when I took the photo. I'll post the month overview for you.

I have no idea how to turn off the battery. It and it's inverter are in the loft. I've never been up there.

At the moment things are difficult because I'm due to have a planned operation on Thursday this week and don't know how long I'll be in. I had hope things would be resolved beforehand but haven't heard anything from Octopus since yesterday's test.

    TIA

August so far. Solar power. The blank columns reflect when I didn't run the app, ie when I was away. The inverter registers it but it then is added to the last column before.

    Cheers
