I’ve never heard of Key Currency either whereas Wise has been in existence and established for a good few years.

I had a quick look on Trust Pilot and Key Currency have a good satisfaction score at 4.9 but when you read the reviews, they all mention staff members names which I find a bit odd. Also one reviewer claims to have been using them for 20yrs when someone mentioned they were founded in 2016.

To be honest, when it’s a large sum of money, I would not risk it for the sake of few hundred pounds. But that’s me.

That's where throwaway email addresses come in. I used to use spamgourmet.com it appears to be still in business. Of course you have to tell them your real email address, but everyone else gets one that self-destructs after 3 uses (default setting).

According to Google Maps, this is (/was in March 2022) the property Key Currency is registered at on Companies House. Google Maps also lists a host of other companies at the same address, ranging from an Embroidery to an Estate Agent, a Divorce Mediator, an Accountancy and a Groundworks company, amongst others. Companies House finds 10,000 matches for the address.

The Key Currency accounts are detailed and up to date, and are audited by a company registered at the same address. I am not an expert in analysing accounts but can’t spot anything in the finances that would immediately alarm me.

I’d still use Wise, though 😎

Though on their website, they give a different company address in Truro. Companies House again finds 10,000 matches for that address.
