Please help- LETTER BEFORE ACTION
I got a letter today, first one as I got nothing else before this! I have never received any pcn before concerning this parking lot. I remember paying but I paid cash, I do not have the receipt anymore cuz it was in April. I’m so confused why I have only just got the “letter before action”saying I owe 170£. Not sure what to do or how to prove I paid.

We'll hazard a guess that It's because you failed to update your logbook address when you moved…are we right?
DVLA gave them your car's registered address.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I never moved houses. I just found the receipt just now wedged between my car. So so lucky cuz I paid cash. On their website it says payment wasn’t made. But clearly I have the receipt to prove. I will be appealing. With proof of payment and that I was within the time period so I am no longer worried. These parking companies are scammers

We agree; there is a wealth of evidence that they are scammers.
You can't appeal now so complain instead. Sounds like they didn't post the PCN. They make more money if not!
But not from you because you'll never pay.
Does the payment receipt have half your numberplate on it?

could I ask what does complaining do? They will just keep doing what they do best…scamming.
the payment receipt doesn’t have a number plate number. It’s a pay and display0 -
Yep, but a large number now require the input of your VRM. Unfortunately scamming-wise, failure to enter the VRM does not hold back the dispensing of the VRM-absent parking ticket. Kerching, £100 smackers please.
Complaining is part of the process of setting out your stall to defend a prospective court claim. Please follow the free advice.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

the payment receipt doesn’t have a number plate number."Yes it does. Maybe just a letter on the right?
You can't appeal but you can complain that no PCN was posted. Obviously you can then escalate that complaint to the BPA who are currently very jumpy about rogue practice.
It could be cancelled if the BPA sniff around.
I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't worth doing. We know our stuff.

Just to check, Do you physically have the V5 ?
If so, check the address listed matches your address. Also check the issue date.
If all is In order, then you have another element to support not having received any prior letters
As you have the receipt - this is probably your best approach.
Just check the date, payment, reg number etc are all matching their “claim”
