I have gathered together DD's jackets from under-the-stairs to deliver today along with other stuff. I have also messaged the lady who collects coats for kids to check she still does because if DD wants to get rid that may be where they go. fling

Sorry I haven't been contributing lately, and thank you for the lists Natty and Valli. I'm sort of keeping on top of things but never enough to post, more flitting than flying.

I'm finding it difficult to concentrate on more than one thing at a time at the moment, but I'm hoping that will change when Belovéd's treatment starts next week. I'm not entirely sure what all the delays are about, I know about waiting lists but there seems to be a lack of urgency about his care which is seriously bothering me. He's working on his new musical and focusing on that. At least he's not fretting because he has a great ability to ignore and forget what he doesn't want to think about. I don't unfortunately but I'm working on just keeping going.

I think I'll turn out my filing cabinet today, clear the Out Tray and dust that area. That's positive action.

Honestly, round, your mind….!!!! I am happy to state that I have two downpipe converters, one in the front and one in the back. Make of that what you will! 😂

Yesterday I finished hoovering and dusting all through (except for DH's realms, which are unapproachable but not unreproachable). This morning I have

• opened windows wider and set blinds for maximum shade
• FUPA my clean laundry from the bathroom
• answered two messages and one phonecall
• done a quick finance check
• eaten breakfast
• showered and dressed
• emptied and reloaded the DW
• emptied all four kitchen bins into the waste collection bins, and, in passing, pulled up a few dead stalks from the day lily by the side door to add to the green bin
• sprayed and wiped out the cupboards under the sink
• helped DS1 find the correct type of bulb to fit the landing light (bayonet fitting) - but then he broke the pendant fitting whilst trying to get the old bulb out
• given DGD2 a sage cutting (more like half a bush!) for her mum
• washed the landing light's glass shade
• found sausages (already cooked) for tea tonight.

I am about to make myself a coffee. Anyone care to join me? While the kettle boils I shall hoover the bits off the kitchen floor. I also need to FUPA DH's t-shirts and socks which were hung up to dry in the utility.

Rosie would like to go out for a walk, but honestly it's already too hot out there.

K&N in the cool of the church this afternoon. No vicar this week - he's on holiday - but the folk from the care home may come and join us for the N.

I have bought the cotton dress again - different fabric design, pick up Friday. This hot weather is a struggle to cope with.

Been to DD's, dropped off all her jackets as well as the oil for her car, some post and medication. And a cucumber. They have a butt with downpipe converter there so I had a look.

I changed the bedding this morning, washed and hung it out. I am assuming that it is now dry. Met up with a friend for a walk. The green and pleasant land is decidedly brown and crispy. We went a bit further than usual, turned left instead of right, and got home 6.5 miles later. I am sure that the hill at the left turn never used to be that long and steep. My intention was to avoid flying by doing admin this afternoon, but DH is hogging the laptop and the office. I am thinking of another flying avoidance excuse instead.

Hello all. Busy day again. I have done dailies, dog walk, changed sofa covers, changed bedding, numerous wash loads which are now dry and put away, hoovered through, been to exercise class, met up with friends for an hour, put lots of listings to sell on line and from today's list I cleaned hairbrushes. Also baked three layers of chocolate sponge ready to decorate later in the week for DGD3s birthday.

The filing cabinet got filleted which pleases me, but the dusting and the filing didn't get done, so they're today's tasks. Fruit bowl emptied, washed out and replaced with a smaller one.

I've made enough cheese pastry to do eight flans which all need to go into the freezer later, and a batch of brown lentils have been cooked so they can too. I crave lentils but never have any ready to use so this will help with quick meals, particularly lunch.

Dog walked at 7.00am, tomatoes and herbs watered. I discovered by accident the reason she's been refusing to go on walks is that I've been leaving it until it's too hot for her. Bird/wildlife/insect drinking saucers all scrubbed out and refilled. I found a wasp having a drink the other day, or it was a small bee. Not sure which. Bird feeders topped up.

Afternoon. I've been here reading every day but didn't comment. Sometimes I talk myself out of commenting. Must stop that.

I've kept up with stuff through the week: washing, dusting, vacuuming, watering in the garden and dog walking which is a chore in this weather when you're trying to stop him walking on the hot pavements. I have to visit my other daughter's dog this afternoon to check on him and feed him but luckily it will be too hot to walk him.

Tomorrow morning I'm booked in the help DD2 with some big pruning in the garden if she doesn't cancel. We're going to start at 8am before it gets too hot. Not especially looking forward to it but we (I) have been talking about it for weeks.

Hope everyone's OK. The thermometer in my garden reads 40C currently. I know that's in the sun but I'm out there in the sun and that's what it feels like.

Evening all. It's been twot!

This morning we thought Rosie had gone missing - searched everywhere in the house to no avail, and neither of us had let her out in the garden. It turned out that L had come for her at 8.30. I had been in the study bedroom, concentrating on Wordle, and although Rosie had come to say good morning to me, she had then crept downstairs again. L (who has a key to our house) said that when she let herself in, Rosie the Silent Ninja was standing at the door, waiting for her. We hadn't panicked.

I S&S'd the kitchen and bathroom, made my bed, hoovered through downstairs, then carried on working at my desk until midday. We went out to lunch at a local pub with some friends who we meet fairly regularly. The afternoon was too hot to do anything except take a siesta, but at 6pm we went out with Rosie to the Three Fields where we had a wonderful view across into Dizzyland and no trees in front of us to obscure the sun. A cloud came across the sun when the eclipse began but there were clear glimpses of the crescent through the cloud. Lots of other families came out to see it, and a sociable time was had by all.

I am about to print off some labels for the jam jars that I have filled so far, then write myself a list for tomorrow.
