Hi

Have looked at previous posts but can't find recent information from anyone in our particular circumstances...

We're in the process of moving and considering breaking chain by completing on our purchase a few weeks ahead of selling our current home. Am aware of the 3 year timescale for claiming back additional stamp duty on 2nd home, but wondered if anyone has recent experience of doing this. How long did it take after applying to get the refund, any problems with the process? Thanks!

We did it 6 years ago and we had the refund within a week. Very straight forward.

We did it last year and put our application in March 2025. It took about 9 weeks for us to get the refund
with a nice surprise - They paid us around 4% interest. I wasn't aware of this at the time.

We did it 2/3 years ago and I can't remember the exact timescale but it was pretty quick
