Hello all.

I have been trying to get the calls/transcripts from EE for several calls I have had with them. (It's obviously a dispute). I have given permission for them to release the info via the privacy act? Still have had nothing and they will not release them to me. Do they have to give them to me? I thought they did, so I'm just asking for advice. Thank you

Any UK organisation handling personal data is subject to the terms of the Data Protection Act, and one such obligation is to provide copies of such data in response to a valid Subject Access Request - is your request compliant with that or does your reference to a 'privacy act' relate to something else?

if you put it forward as a Subject Access Request under the DPA/GDPR the they have to give it to you if they exist however the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 introduced a stronger requirement that the search in response be reasonable and proportionate rather than exhaustive and so if you ask for a copy of all calls you have ever made to them they could potentially reject the request as disproportionate. The more details you can give in terms of what date/time you called, what number you called from, what number you called to etc the harder it is for them to reject the request however if the records were already deleted (or it was never recorded) then theres nothing that can be done.

The "Privacy act" is a piece of United States legislation, so has no bearing here. It's possible that if you made a request referring to it, then it has been disregarded.
