No. I married in 1970 UK. Then in 1972 i Malta (In a RC Church. Divorced (in UK) in 2025, getting married this week in UK. thanks

As before, do you have a financial settlement in place?

If not, remarriage will limit what you can claim, but leaves your ex able to claim from you, potentially for decades.

You may well find that the Maltese RC church doesn’t recognise a UK divorce. So subsequently won’t recognise your new marriage. You may have severed all Maltese connections and not be bothered, but I thought I’d mention it.

You need to dig in to what happened in Malta in more detail.

A UK marriage, civil or religious is recognised in Malta from a legal perspective. If he is still a Maltese citizen he should have registered his british marriage with the local authorities there.

From a religious perspective they may not consider him married but any ceremony would be purely religious not legal and so there shouldnt have been a signing of another legal marriage certificate or at least it shouldnt have been filed.

The Divorce will have disolved the legal marriage, a religions magic book will tell them if they are considered divorced or not in Gods eyes. The registry office will only care about the legal status not the religious. If you are talking to them its basically a blessing you had rather than a legal marriage in the church.

Yes, we do have a financial settlement in place. It was a clean break Divorce. He gave me an amount of money following the sale of the marital home. Anyway! All I wanted to know is, whether I needed to mention to the registrar that I was also married (to husband No.1) in a RC Church in Malta.

if you are not sure then the best solution is to mention it.

Ifit matters you need to know, and if it doesn't matter there is no harm done.
