Saga rejected application

Your wife is probably not the only person rejected by Saga for this account. As others have said go open an account (or two) with Cahoot instead.

I don't think affordability is taken into consideration when opening a savings account. Also, the question of where income is coming from didn't feature in the application. In any case, the issue has now become largely irrelevant as we have opened an account with a different provider.

Same just happened to me!!
Moved house recently. Updated Equifax and all of my savings accounts with new address. Updated Council tax, water, energy etc. too.
I too have a Cahoot account and want to ditch and switch. I am "early retired" with significant savings and have one of the best credit ratings available.
It is part of Natwest / Saga / Ulster Bank / First Active Bank All offering 4.50%
I had savings with Ulster in the past (terrible bank to deal with) which was cloaed in July 2025.
I think the fact that I mentioned I was going to deposit £110000 and shwed them my Cahoot latest stement proving where the money is (would) come from is the issue. They seem to want to just cherry pick and I think it is quite disgusting that they don't give you a valid reason. Descrimination in my opinion.
Up theirs!!!
