Card to use in Spain

hi all

I am a Club Llyods banker. Have a monzo account too

going to Spain next week. Just wondered which card is going to best to use or does it matter?

Depends what for - taking money out, paying for things?

I would always use a cashback credit card with travel rate perk like Lloyds Ultra personally but then I never use cash

Ideally use a card that doesn't charge a Foreign Exchange fee on each transaction. I think (but please do verify yourself) that Monzo doesn't charge an FX fee.

That's for buying goods directly with your card - if you plan on making ATM withdrawals, check the T&Cs of both cards to see what fees may be applied. Also remember that some ATMs will charge a fee themselves, which your card issuer has no control over.

Both the Club Lloyds and Monzo debit cards are fee free for overseas purchases.

T212 debit card actually has very good fx rate (no fee of course, but I find the rate they use to exchange closer to mid market / even better than Visa/MC wholesale rate) + 1.5% cashback (on eligible spending, with only a few rare exceptions - meals and drinks obviously eligible - but beware that since 1/8 you need to qualify for cashback).
