Resolvecall letter
Hi all,
This morning I received a letter from Resolvecall, apparently they've taken over a Capquest thing for me and they're going to attend my address if I don't contact them.
- The debt (Capital One) they're talking about is probably over 10 years old.
- I've had a Capital One account since with no problem and the balance currently stands at £0
they've provided a login to an account they've set up with a ref number etc so would it be wise of me to login to that and explain that I'm not in debt.
Any advice gratefully received, I just don't want them turning up at my door as my elderly mother lives with me and she'll just panic and stress if she thinks I'm in debt even if I tell her I'm not.

Have you been making any payments to this old Cap One debt? If not, do you know when the last payment was?

No, no payments whatsoever and with the new credit card from them all payments were made and the balance is zero, I've even taken screenshots showing zero balance and also Experian credit report showing nothing is owed for Capital One.
Just unsure as to how to move on and get them off my back.

Resolvecall are just "guns for hire" who will simply say you have a personal matter to deal with and you should contact Cap one about it, most likely you will just get a card through your letterbox.
They are not engaged as debt collectors here, just a messenger service basically, designed to make you feel uneasy, but they are nothing to worry about.
The debt will be statute barred most likely, but that does not mean its not still collectable, and they will continue to chase it unless you send them a letter telling them that its statute barred, you will not be paying it, and they should adhere to FCA guidelines on the collection of statute barred debt.

Thank you, I guess I best get my writing head on, quick question who do I write to? Resolvecall or Capital One despite me not even having communication with them at all over this debt I'm being chased for.

You said the debt was owned by Capquest. So either ignore, or write to them

Yes the original debt was Capital One who then obviously passed it to Capquest who's now passed it to Resolvecall. They're also stating the debt owed is £1,320 but I've never had a credit limit over a thousand with Capital One, even now my limit is £750.

Hopefully Capquest will just give up if you send them a statute barred letter. Post again if they don't

Will Capquest care as apparently I'm now in the good hands of Resolvecall. I'm so confused with all this. They don't make anything easy really do they?

Capquest own the debt so they have ultimate responsibility for it, Resolvecall are just "guns for hire" as Sourcrates mentions.
It's all designed to be difficult and make you feel intimidated in the hope that you'll just pay them something.

Capquest have just asked Resolvecall to drop in a postcard, effectively. Capquest buy debts so they are the present owner
