hi I won a job lot of items, 12 items.

It’s a local collection, so I have paid over £100, as I understand it just show them the QR code when collecting

But what if maybe one or two of the items have a fault, and I say I don’t want that item, I’ll just take the 10 items.do they issue me with a part refund after or before I give them the collection code.

As I understand the definition of a "job lot", it is one item. You pay for the "job lot" and you take it all. If one part in the "job lot" is faulty and that was not stated in the listing, the entire lot needs to be rejected (because it is one item, in this case comprising 12 parts).

Of course, you and the seller can come to some other arrangement by mutual consent. That is up to you to negotiate, if you want, and for the seller to agree (or not).

The QR code is for their protection not yours.

Assuming its a single lot then in principle its all or nothing, though two consenting adults can agree to almost anything they want the ebay system isnt setup for it.

The problem is that ebay already hold the money, if the QR code is taken then the seller gets the funds. If buyer chooses not to accept the full lot and doesn't give the QR code over they leave with nothing. Any attempt to cancel the sale and then renegotiate privately is likely to be seen as attempting to deal off ebay.

If the buyer reports the item as faulty or not as described the seller has the option to issue a part refund, but no facility to ask for a partial return. It's quite difficult to simultaneously confirm collection and inspect the goods.

Unfortunately if you discover a problem after collecting you will likely have to return the purchase.

As above, all the QR code is for is to prove that the buyer physically collected the goods. This was implemented in the dim and distant past to prevent issues of buyers collecting the goods (or having them collected by a "courier") and then later claiming they never collected them and getting a full refund. (Basically a proof of posting alternative).

Once the items are in your posession, any non-conformance of the product would have to be arranged in the usual manner as it would be if you had had them delivered. You have the option of a partial refund, but only if you reach an agreement. This would probably be easier if you were standing in their house, but would still apply if you couldn't reasonably / fully inspect/test them while at the sellers' premises.

With both parties being honest this is easily done, agree a refund amount, release the funds to the seller and then get seller to issue a partial refund via eBay. Obviously with a dodgy seller who says they will do it later, it becomes problematic.
