Composite door help!

I’ve been looking for the past month at various showrooms, online companies etc etc and I just want an honest answer on what I should be going for.

So my house is a south facing front with a little patio yard type gap between the house and the pavement. It’s brick covered in whatever that stippled paint/plaster type stuff is and I don’t want to navigate away to find out. It will come to me. But that’s not what’s important right now.

We are - perhaps most importantly - about half a mile inland from the sea. So I’ve already ruled out anything chrome on the furniture.

Can someone please enlighten me on the different types of composite, the pros and cons, the companies to avoid (manufacturers rather than suppliers) whether I want timber or foam, comp doors, solidor, hallmark, Distinction etc etc etc…

I’ve seen too much and am quite overwhelmed with differing advice from salespeople.

Budget is around the £2k mark.

Oh and I really want a pink door. Getting rid of a hideous PVC monstrosity.

Red doors fade really quickly, worse than almost anything else as far as I can tell. Pink is probably not much better.

I live 100m from the sea and have a south facing front door. To be honest I didn't know there were different types of composite door and I have no idea what I have but I'm pleased with mine. It is pale green and in 6 years hasn't faded but one thing I would say is that it is noisy. When I say noisy I don't mean with regards to it's operation I mean it's constant creaking throughout the day as it heats up and expands in the sun and cools down contracting in the evening. I have chrome handles and they show no sign of corrosion. Mine did cost more than £2k 6 years ago but I do also have 2 side glass panels

I was advised by a decorator to apply a car interior product to my composite door - it's blue and was fading. This stuff has made it look new again!

When we bought our composite front door, we were told that Chartwell Green was the cheapest and wouldn't fadeas mich as other colours. Ours must be around 5/6 years old now and there is a slight discolouration near the letter box but not too noticeable. But the sun will be on our front door for the majority of the afternoon. We've had no issues with swelling like we have on the UPVC white door on the back.

I can't recall the manufacturer of the door, I just sought recommendations from our local community and went to the most popular recommended company.

Painting front doors seemed really popular in covid, so perhaps go for pink and accept it might need painting at some point in the event it fades?
