paying for luggage
hey everyone, I am going to be flying on jet2 next week and havent booked any checked in luggage, is it normally cheaper to buy at the airport or before online?

It 100% will NOT be cheaper to buy when you are there!

Is this a holiday booking or flight-only?
In either case it will almost certainly be more expensive to add luggage on the day of travel.

much cheaper to buy online beforehand… people buying at the airport are being held by their short and curlies as whats their alternative option? Throw away the other suitcase? Decide not to travel?

If its a package no need to book anything as a single bag up to 22kg is included with all bookings.

I would consider the prices charged at airport as ‘penalty’ prices. Book luggage as soon as you can as occasionally prices can surge . I normally know what I’m planning on my holiday and book luggage appropriately at the same time as booking flights.

As above, if a package holiday main luggage is included in the deal
Flight only isn't - book online for cheapest option.

Completely agree. Look at it from the airline's point of view. You've turned up at the airport to fly off on holiday. If they don't take your bag your holiday is ruined. They know it and can charge accordingly.

Jet2 charge £45 at the airport for a single bag up to 22kg.

We flew flight only with SAS and got a checked bag each, we also paid for an extra case on the way back and it was £25, so £45 both ways sounds about fair. I would suspect they plan the cargo hold more than a couple of hours before flying, so turning up last minute with a checked bag is bound to cost more.
If their app is anything like SAS, it should tell you the price on any extras options.
