Advice for choosing pre paid funeral plan

It's much easier for those administering your estate not to have to deal with planning & arranging payment for a funeral as well.
All I had to do with Mum's was ring Pure Cremation once, and do two simple forms electronically.
I was more than grateful not to be burdened with funeral arrangements on top of everything else I suddenly had to do, some of which was time sensitive (clearing rented property) or already proving very difficult (death certificate took nearly 3 weeks, nightmare).
Had Barclays bereavement team been responsible for funeral payment, they'd probably have screwed that aspect up too - I had one complaint upheld, and when the second problem came to light I was simply out of energy to raise it (with chronic illness you have to pick your battles).

when my husband died the funeral director dealt with the funeral plan with Golden Charter.
All I had to was phone them to confirm that the plan could be used for my husband- it was in my name but could be used for first death- and give the funeral director the paperwork.
Made a difficult time easier.1 -
"My brother said he would like to attend my funeral but that will cost £2000/ £3000 even £4000 which i can't afford."
If your estate can't afford a cremation, or it is insolvent, then the Local Authority will be able to do a simple funeral.
Search for Public Health Funerals.
With few friends or family, and no estate worth speaking of, it might be the better option.
Do you have a will/executor?
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 3.24% of current retirement "pot" (as at end December 2025)0
