Dear Money Saving Expert Form.

On 27/02/2023 I stayed at Travelodge Paignton and duly paid the £7 parking fee as evidenced by my bank statement.

On 3rd March 2023 I moved house and notified DVLA of my new address.

On 29th May 2025 I moved to my current addressed and notified DVLA.

On 11th June 2026 I received a Notice of Debt Recovery - Unpaid Parking Charges £155 in respect of my stay at Travelodge Paignton, 3 years earlier.

I contacted DCBL informing them of the fact that payment was made, I also provided proof of payment (Bank Statement). I also informed them of my various dates that I moved house.

On 6th July 2026 I received a letter from DCBL entitled, Final Reminder - Unpaid Parking Charge £155.

On 20th July 2026 I received a letter entitled, Final Notice of Intended Legal Action. I've yet to respond to the letter. Please advise?

Regards

DCBL are little different from scammers. You don't have to respond to every letter as you may get several. The point where you would respond is their Letter before Claim.

This is usually followed by an actual claim and if they choose to go down that route, this forum has a very good record on defending those.

We know Horizon have recently moved over to DCB. That's quite interesting in itself - they can't be making any or enough profit with Gladstone's non-discontinuation package.

Looks like they're doing a G24 and hoovering up old cases, which will clearly move to a court claim and later be discontinued.

Anyway, what are they claiming the charge is for if you paid the £7?
