creased passport

The main picture page of my passport is a little creased.

Last night leaving Paphos, Cyprus, their scanner wouldn't read it (and it struggled when we arrived there too)

It worked fine when we got back into Manchester.

Dare I ask 'head of ironing' to try to smooth it out or is that too much of a risk?

On our recent trip to Crete there was a problem scanning my passport that wasn't encountered coming or going in the UK.

Given what you say that it is readable and not actually damaged according to the gov.uk website I'd just leave it as is. Maybe press the page under a heavy book or 5 rather than actually ironing it.

Don't use an iron on it.

Passports have a range of anti-tampering, anti-fraud measures built-in (and not just the teeny-tiny writing).

All I'm saying is that the plastic laminate over the pages may not like it……..

I accidentally dropped mine in sea water whilst on holiday 7 years ago and it was in there for a while as I had to run back over a bridge and walk along sand banks to retrieve it. It had crinkly pages after it dried out. Returning via ferry port from France border force in UK could not scan it so ended up doing checking it through manually. I have since used it for many holidays with no issues so maybe it dried out further in the interim also when I dropped it in the sea they weren't doing the facial and fingerprint recognition.

Looking at the list in the link provided above, it would indicate that your passport should be OK.

But foreign immigration officials may not agree.

I would not attempt to straighten it out.
