Successfully challenged G24 PCN at Wickes

I’ve been monitoring some of these threads for a while and wanted to share a recent success story of having a PCN overturned.

The short story, and a tactic I learned from here, if you are a legitimate customer - email the store/customer services.

The long story….

I visited Wickes Dartford to get a large amount of timber. This took quite a few trips to and from the car to collect and attach to my roof. I was unaware that this store had a 90 minute restriction on the car park. (The store is next to a very busy train station…)

I subsequently received a PCN from G24 explaining that I had been at the car park for 1hr 51 mins (so 21mins over the maximum allowed and yes as my wife said…wow that is a long time to collect and load timber…)

I remembered advice I had read on the MSE forums and emailed Wickes customer simply explaining that I was a paying customer and had items to load which took me a while.

I promptly had a response from customer services who escalated it to the branch manager. The same individual then followed up multiple times until that branch manager escalated it to G24. Less than a week later it has been rescinded.

I must say I believe this is partly down to a very good customer service rep from Wickes. But definitely worth doing this if you are a paying customer and have accidentally gone over the allotted parking time.
