Incorrect PCN for overstay referred to DCBL

Hi all,

Trying to get some help with a notice just received from DCBL as debt collection for a supposed overstay issued by Euro Car Parks. I had not received previous communications from Euro Car Parks as I recently moved and had not updated my V5. I am quite new to the UK and did not realise I needed to do so.

The overstay in question is supposed to have taken place at the end of April. The car park has a 90 minute free period after which you need to pay for extra time. I looked through my parking app and I did pay for the overstay on the date in question so the PCN is invalid. Wondering if there is any way to fight this and have the debt removed at this point?

Thanks in advance!

There is no debt, just an alleged debt, nothing makes a pcn invalid, but probably unenforceable

Ensure that your V5c and Driving licence have your correct address on the DVLA database, not an old address

    Ignore DCBL

Any fighting or defending comes much later in the process , so wait for developments after checking your DVLA details are correct, coming back to this thread if you receive a Letter of Claim or court claim

Do read the NEWBIES Announcement thread, (top of page 1) Post 4 - Debt Letters and Post 2 - Small Claim.

  • Thank you for your replies! This is all very helpful.

I had updated my driving license when I moved, incorrectly assuming that was all to be done, but have now updated the V5c as well. Will continue reading NEWBIE thread for my next steps.

Your DCB Letter is shown in post 4 of the NEWBIES thread in the threatogram pics to ignore.

PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
