Smart gas meter will never work. Has technology changed?

Why - they are on the alt han co site as partners and their faqs include

I don't know. I've asked them to explain but I'm still waiting for them to respond.

I've now had a response from Octopus:

"As stated in my previous email. We only have a waitlist for Alt-han currently. We do not currently do installations on this at all."

If you push them hard enough, I've heard of Octopus bridging a connection from your gas meter to your communications hub on top of your electricity meter using an Octopus Home Mini or multiple.

I've switched to Eon, and they have agreed to install a Alt-Han device. I'm awaiting an appointment.

FWIW, I resolved my problem without an Alt-HAN device or an Octopus Home Mini by buying a SmartXtendPro. That has boosted the HAN signal so my IHD is now working reliably. So I'm not impressed by Octopus's response, or by the Ombudsman.
