HJ Ceramics Cistern (Fluidmaster Dual Flush Push Button Cistern type?) Handle Return Spring Repair?

Hi everyone,

I have a cistern fitted with a HJ Ceramics Cistern which I understands of type Fluidmaster Dual Flush Push Button Cistern Pack?. The problem is that the handle is no longer returning to its original position after flushing, which means water continues to run into the pan. At the moment, I am managing by manually turning the handle back anticlockwise after each flush.

I have now managed to separate the handle from the tank and split it into two pieces. However, I am still unable to open the spring mechanism itself. The spring has come out, but I cannot see how the mechanism is designed to come apart further.

I can see that the complete Fluidmaster mechanism is available for around £13 from Toolstation, so replacing the whole unit is an option. Also I can see just button available for £9 at Wickes and Amazon. However, before doing that, I would like to see if the existing handle can be repaired and saved if possible.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I give up and replace the complete assembly or button separately.

Thanks.

It's not the button it is the valve.

    Replace the whole thing.

I manage to fix this by just making the flush cable connected 270 degree (extra rotation anticlockwise) to handle gives a sprint effect to the handle , so all sorted without need of any replacement . Thanks.
