Chase/PayPal Double debit card cashback?
Can anyone confirm if using a PayPal debit card linked to a PayPal account connected to a chase debit card pays cashback twice?
Chase offer 2% debit card cashback (max £20 month) and PayPal offer 1%.
I have my PayPal debit card linked to my current account debit card and I'm earning the PayPal points no problem, but my current bank doesn't pay any debit card cashback.
Wondered if anyone had tried this. PayPal points are described as 10 points per £10 spend, but they are accrued at 1 point per £1, so it isn't restricted to £10 blocks. The PayPal redemption value increases to 1.5p/point if you spend £25k in the year and redeem on groceries but that won't be me.

Think the Chase cashback is only triggered by spend that is associated with a subset of Merchant Category Codes (groceries, restaurants, car fuel etc).
Wouldn't the transaction with PayPal fall under one of the 'Business Services' codes, not the very specific retail purchase ones?
Wouldn't be too hard to try out, swap your Chase card into PayPal and spend (50p minimum) at Tesco. Chase show cashback earnt almost immediately, how long is the wait a PayPal?

We only support Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal. You will only earn cashback on debit card and credit card transactions made using these digital wallets. All other digital wallets are not supported.
Transactions via PayPal "should" earn you cashback if at an eligible merchant, but (like previous response) best way to check the PayPal cashback side is to try it.
I'll certainly be interested in the answer :)

Paypal points show up in the app as pending immediately and then are added a couple of days later, available to spend. The transaction doesn't show up with the underlying bank as a PayPal deposit but names the retailer eg "PayPal Tesco" like my Curve card does, so hopefully the MCC follows through too.
I don't currently have a chase account so can't quickly try. Just wondered if any of you fanatical lot had yet. I imagine if it does work it may get closed fairly soon, but 3% whilst it lasts isn't to be sniffed at.

I haven't tried this because buying eg a Tesco Gift Card at Everup at a 4% discount (the rate varies, this was available a moment ago) with a Lloyds Ultra CC (1% cashback) gives a better saving.
This deal, plus some other 6-8% supermarket cashback deals on other banks' reward schemes means I am struggling to make significant use of the new Chase cashback scheme in its first month.
