OR, do nothing and with until the company respond with their comments once you presented them the evidence that they reported earnings.

HMRC will not simply take your word for it that you were not paid the money as declared by the employer. No matter whether you write to them, phone them, email them or dance in their reception with a paid of Union Jack boxer shorts on your head.

I am very surprised that a trial can be two weeks and the obligations to pay at least NMW do not apply. As indicated upthread, the amount that was declared seems to match NMW. The following article also seems to suggest that a trial period should be paid:

I assume you were not on a Job Centre work trial?

My Two weeks there was to be a trial period and i was never meant to be payed.

    They sounds unlikely.

The company declared pay for me to HMRC accidentally.

    Or, alternatively, they're right.

In your previous thread you wrote:

In approx June this year i took a job on PAYE ... I simply told him i would leave there and then and he didnt have to pay me.

That definitely sounds as though you were on staff and were due to be paid for the work you were undertaking.

I will have to write to HMRC to state that i was never payed this money and that no money should have been payed, and that i dont owe the tax.

HMRC will not take your word for this.

Do you have evidence - a contract, for example - that clearly states your role at that employer was unpaid?

If it was trial period that wouldn’t be paid why did you tell them not to bother oayinv you?

Could we all tell HMRC that we didn’t get paid and they will repay the tax that has been deducted?

I’m following the OP’s lead here and writing to HMRC stating that I was never paid by any of my employers for the last 25 years, and could I get those tax deductions refunded please.

While you are at it, why not go the whole hog and retrospectively claim the means-tested benefits you could have claimed on the basis of not being paid? 😉

Thankyou to All. Very good people here. I wrote and told the company that i would tell the HMRC that it was supposed to be an unpayed trial and as such , i never was due any pay, and certainly that i never received any pay, …and then the company have now payed me the full £875 into my Bank Account. Thankyou.

I am really glad that worked out for you 😊

Don't forget to keep some of the money received aside to pay the income tax that will now be due via your self assessment tax return.
