Duty Free cigarette prices, Glasgow Airport

NoodleDoodleMan

If any kind soul is passing through GLA World Duty Free - perhaps they could casually enquire as to the cost of 400 x Bensons & Hedges Gold and flag it up here ?

For an acquaintance as a favour.

I called World Duty Free there to be advised they are not allowed to divulge prices over the 'phone………the same applies to email enquires apparently.

Im going through Edinburgh Sunday, Im assuming prices would be similar so I can take a look if that would help?

Trouble is that this thread is going to get zapped - allowing those prices to be published here would make the site in breach of rules about ciggy promotion.

@NoodleDoodleMan I'll send you a PM if you want the prices from Edinburgh (and if I remember at 4am Sunday morning)

Thanks - an insider source has advised the price, I'd best not go any further in case the Official Secrets Act is compromised 🙄

I appreciate the offer.

Thanks for clarification - had no idea this came under the blanket of secrecy.

S'not secret, just can't be published. That's why you can't look the price up on World Duty Free's site (or Tesco, Asda etc).

In reality, a quick Google will turn the price up, might even be accurate.

NoodleDoodleMan

Google gave a range of prices, presumably it couldn't access precise details.

This secrecy nonsense would make a great storyline for an Arthur Daly or Del Boy Trotter episode

Again, it's not secret. Just can't be promoted. So no Dunhill Masters Golf, Rothmans F1 Team or Players No6 Cup.

Actually, just mentioning the brands like that might be a breach of the rules.

Might be OK if someone simple posted on here "200 fags at GLA is £nn".

May also be worth trying to find out if its any cheaper buying on the flight, assuming they sell them.

Or at your destination on return.

I'm working on that. I now know the price in Jersey in Euros - a fair bit cheaper than GLA.
